Highland Fling



Highland Fling was Owned by Mr A Kemble and started his racing career in Auckland, winning the

Great Northern Stakes and the Great Northern Derby, but as a 4year old he devoloped bad barrier manners and was transferred to trainer Leo Berkett.

He was the leading standarbred horse in New Zealand between 1947 and 1948.

He won 2 New Zealand Trotting Cups notably with a 60 yard (55metre handicap in 1948).

In 1948 he also won the Premier Sprint Championship and the Wellington Cup.

He won his last race in 1949 but suffered a Broken Bone in his leg which ended his racing career.

Highland Fling went on to stand at Stud in New South Wales and Victoria where he sired many Winners

He died in June 1975.
